After seeing Buddhist temples and amazing waterfalls, our journey through South Korea’s Jeju Island led us to… a museum dedicated to action figures and collectible statues.
Figure Museum Jeju is exactly what the name implies. It’s two story ode to collectible toys. From the street, the imposing warehouse-esqe facade has Spider-man crawling up one side and a gigantic First Order Stormtrooper helmet over the door. With this many collectibles, and in a part of the world known for its knock-offs, the vast majority of the museum was authentic, licensed material. Most impressive design-wise were the high-end 1:4 or 1:2 maquettes from companies like Tweeterhead that you rarely get to see in real life. The detail on them is stunning. But of course the real reason to visit is the life-size statuary.
Here’s a quick peek. There are 40+ photos and 4 additional videos after the break.
